Kicking Back with Doris O'Connor

I love interviewing other authors. It not only gives me an opportunity to get to know them, but you as well. Today, I'm happy to welcome Doris O'Connor from across the pond. Not only is she a multi-published author, she is also wickedly entertaining!

<-------Check out her hot new cover! Keep reading to find out more :)

Blurb: When Giorgio Giovanni tracks the troublesome Jemima down in a hospital bed in Italy, he has one thing on his mind—revenge. However, the fragile woman he encounters is not the devious female he remembers. When it becomes clear that she is in danger, he risks everything to keep her safe.

Left for dead, Jemima wakes up in hospital, terrified, and with no idea of her identity. The angry man, who comes to claim her, is the only link to a shared past she can't remember. A past that threatens to destroy them, and all she has ever held dear.
With danger all around them, and their sexual chemistry off the scale, can they find their way back to each other, or is the past too devious to tame?

Let's find out what Doris had to say. Shall we?

Hennessee: Are any of the scenes in your books based on personal experiences?

Doris: Invariably my own personal experiences find themselves into the scenes in some way. And Research is essential. I tend to only base my stories in places I have been to myself, for instance. Which is why my stories are always set in the UK and Europe.

As for other research, well, hubby is only too happy to help…  ;-)

Hennessee: When did you begin writing?

Doris:  I've spun stories all my life. I was an only child with an overactive imagination that used to get me into trouble all the time. As a grown up too, I used to and still do drive folks insane with my 'vacant spells'. I don't even realize I'm doing it, as I'm listening to some hero whispering in my ear, lol, until someone waves a hand in front of my face! So, yeah, if I walk straight past you on the street, I'm not being rude, just away with the fairies…

I've only been writing with a view to publication since September 2010. A friend entered a writing competition, and I thought, it's now or never, and I haven't stopped writing since. :)

Hennessee: What kind of hero do you most enjoy writing about?

Doris: The reformed bad boy, tough Alpha hero, who will move heaven and earth to protect the woman he loves, whilst fighting against that love tooth and nail. And he has to be tortured. Love myself a truly tortured hero. Their flaws make them real.

Hennessee: When you read, what do enjoy reading the most?

Doris:  BDSM is always my first choice, but I read all sorts. Entirely depends what mood I'm in. But generally speaking the hotter the better and it has to have a good love story.

Hennessee:  Tell me about an embarrassing moment.

Doris: Too many to mention, lol. I'm a right Klutz at times!

Hennessee:  How do you deal with writer’s block?

Doris: I read and chill, and simply wait until the characters speak to me again.

Hennessee:  What do you think makes a great bedroom scene?

Doris: Well, sex always helps, lol, and if I get turned on writing it, then I know I'm on the right course ;-) Also, hubby reads my books and when I get the look and, "Hot damn," I know it's goooood. lol

Hennessee: If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?

Doris: Alexander Skarsgard. Not that I would be able to eat a thing, as I would be too busy drooling, but … Oh just imagine. Hubby always teases me mercilessly about my obsession with that tall Swede, but damn, there is just something about him!

Hennessee: Tell me about the shittiest job you’ve ever had?

Doris: Oh, I've had a few in my time, but the absolute shittiest had to have been back in Germany. I was door to door canvassing. That was fun, NOT!

Hennessee: When is your favorite time to write?

Doris: Late at night when everyone else is asleep, just because the house is so busy at other times. I'm looking forward to the time when all the kiddos are at school, and I have a nice six hour stretch every day, where I'll have the house to myself to just write.

Hennessee: If you could date any character from your books, who would it be and why?

Doris: Ah, no contest. The very first hero I ever wrote. Sven from Scandinavian Scandal, closely followed by Ion from Lure Of the Blood, and Doric from The Last Of His Kind, oh and Grisha from Club Ink. Mmmm, maybe I'd put him first, actually…
You might get the impression that I fall hopelessly in love with every one of my heroes when I write them, but if you're really going to make me pick just one, then Sven. He's such a tortured soul, and so deliciously arrogant, and just yum! And he's extremely inventive in the bedroom department, and loves children, and, well, he was my first, so that makes him extra special ;-)

Hennessee: Is there any of your strengths or weaknesses in your books you use to develop your characters?

Doris: Hmm, not sure. Subconsciously I probably do. I know my heroines are always bratty and sharp tongued, a bit like myself in real life, lol. But mostly, my characters just tell me their story and I take dictation.

Hennessee: Tell me something odd about you?

Doris: Hubby would say, marrying him was the oddest thing I ever did. LOL! Just asked him!

Hennessee: If your friends could describe you with one word, what would it be?

Doris: Strong-willed

Hennessee: What do you say to people who believe romance books are porn for women?

Doris: They clearly haven't read any, and even if that were the case, what's wrong with it? Hubby would be the first to agree that he reaps the benefits from me reading and writing Erotic Romance. It's done wonders for the intimate parts of our relationship :-P

Hennessee: Do you have an upcoming book you would like to tell me about?

Doris: I have two :) Sol And The Magic Fingers is a fun little story for The Romance On The Go line about a naughty genie trapped in an e-reader. And I'm starting a new series about Mr. Satisfaction Guaranteed. He was my free read and Natasha's story is scheduled for release in March. These are BDSM stories involving his escort services.

Hennessee: When did you begin writing?

Doris: When I first held a pen in my hand :)

Hennessee: Do you have any advice for new writers?

Doris: Write every day, find yourself a good critique group and never, ever give up. Rejection is part of the process. If you're given feedback act on it, and just keep on writing. The only way to find your voice is to write.

Hennessee: What’s your poison?

Doris: Not sure I have one to be honest. I'm not a big drinker, but I do like a nice ice cold bottle of German beer.

Hennessee: What is your favorite comfort food?

Doris: Chocolate, and more chocolate. What do you mean that's not food?

Hennesse: How can readers find out more about you?

Doris:  You can stalk me in all the usual places :)

Hennessee: Where can readers find your books?

Doris: Amazon, my publisher's websites and all good E- retailers.

Excerpt:

Tears clouded her vision at the concern in his voice, and he swore and moved to untie her.

"No, I'm fine, really. Leave it. Show me how it should be, please. Help me to forget."

He stared at her for the longest time, one large hand, hot and heavy on her belly, his gaze so intense it took her breath away.  When he finally smiled, it lit up his harsh features. She didn't catch the murmured Italian words he mumbled under his breath, but the kiss that followed had her curl her toes into the bed with the effort to not release herself from her bonds and bury her hands in his hair to make him hurry up and fuck her.

He was breathing as heavily as she by the time he released her, and she bit back a moan when he simply ripped the rest of her dress off her. Her bra and knickers followed the fate of her dress, until she lay in front of him naked, wet, and wanting. He ran his knuckles slowly up and down her tummy in ever widening circles, and then reached across to the ice bucket with a slow grin.
"Shut your eyes for me, cara."   His voice had dropped an octave, and her stomach dropped right with it, seeing him hold a couple of ice cubes in his fingers. She shook her head and bucked off the bed, when he flicked his hand over her breasts. Ice cold drops of water fell on her skin and trickled between the valley of her breasts. He licked the drops away, his warm tongue taking away the coldness left by the water.
"Shut your eyes, trust me. This will be so much better for you when you can't see what I'm doing." He kissed a path down her quivering tummy, and she blinked back tears at the tender way he caressed her abdomen. He paused to drop a long kiss just above her pubic bone, and his hot breath teased her wet folds. Her clit tingled, and she shut her eyes, as he renewed his request for her to do so. She couldn't see what he was doing, but the bed dipped as he adjusted his weight again. His hot mouth closed over one of her nipples at the same time as the other was subjected to an ice cube being circled around it.
She gasped at the intense sensation, and Giorgio swapped sides. The difference between his warm mouth and tongue and the ice cube sent her body into spasms of need. She writhed under him, and he laughed. Again and again he repeated the process all along her body. A path of ice, followed by the warmth of his tongue as he licked the icy trails away, leaving fiery awareness in its wake. By the time he finally reached her pussy, she was hovering on the brink of orgasm. She whimpered her need when he pushed an ice cube high into her channel and then proceeded to lick around her clit, careful to never touch her when she needed him most. The melting ice cube mixed in with her own juices and trickled slowly out her hole. Her pussy clenched, and she didn't recognize the needy voice pleading with him to please do something.
He blew against her slit and shouldered her legs wider.
"Così bello, e tutto mio."   He followed the words with a kiss, and she screamed when he pulled her clit into his mouth and swirled his tongue around it, at the same time as he pushed another ice cube into her empty channel. Her walls closed around the slippery object, and spasmed wildly as the first quivers of her orgasm hit. Giorgio groaned into her core and stepped up his sweet torture on her clit. When he pushed two fingers into her core, and massaged her sweet spot, the intensity of her orgasm hit her with the full force of freight train.
"That's it, tesoro, fly for me." He caught her scream of release in his mouth, and she could taste herself in the passionate kiss he gave her, dimly aware of him withdrawing his fingers and replacing them with his cock. Thick, hard, and so very long he filled her completely as he pushed into her swollen core, until he was seated to the hilt. She wrapped her legs around him and dug her feet into his calves to give him better access and to take him as deep as she could. He started thrusting, every move driving him deeper into her, and tumbling her right over the edge again, as her inner muscles contracted around his thick member. Faster and faster he pumped, his harsh breathing in her ear the most erotic sound ever, his hands and lips seemingly everywhere, arousing every little bit of skin he touched until her whole body was a mass of sensation. Again her body climbed toward that peak of sheer joy, and this time Giorgio was with her every step of the ecstatic journey they took together. Her eyes flew open, and she drowned in the rolling depths of emotion she saw reflected in his, as they came together in their explosive release.
When her body finally stopped shaking, she could taste the salt of tears in her mouth. Giorgio kissed them off her face, and he released her from her bonds, and pulled her into his embrace. She had to smile at his grumbled, "If this is pretending, then I hate to see what will happen when we do this for real."

I hope you enjoyed Doris O'Connor's interview and enjoyed it as much as I did! Be sure to check out her new book at Evernight Publishing!
